Spring 1999 Happenings

There have been some big changes in my life since the last update. I’ve moved into a new apartment which is very close to work. Once again, my commute is almost non-existent. And I have a new man in my life. Please read on to see what I’ve been up to.

There has been a bit of trauma in the lives of my kids. If you want to know more, click here and visit the shrine to my cats.

In the greatest of family traditions, I have continued to color Easter eggs year after year. This year, I had Steve to help me with it. The night before Easter, we boiled 2 dozen eggs and spent the evening at our creative peaks.

On Easter day, Steve and I were visited by the Easter Bunny. I have a huge sweet tooth, but I still have a bunch of candy left over from Easter. Of course, this may be because I couldn’t resist the 75% off after Easter sale!

Later that afternoon, we cooked a rather magnificent ham. Much like my Thanksgiving feast, there was way to much food to eat in one sitting. Leftover ham sandwiches and ham casserole dishes were very prevalent in our lives in the following week.

California Academy of Sciences

One of Steve’s and my weekend excursions took us to the California Academy of Science, which has an Aquarium, Planetarium, and Natural History Museum in one place. There’s a whole lot to see there, but the highlights were the Crocodile. . .

My Huge Birthday Extravaganza!!!!

I had my 24th birthday in April and it was a wonderful day. In the morning, I got a huge bouquet of flowers and balloons from Steve. It also happened to be Secretary’s Day. As I qualify under the heading of support staff, my boss got me a beautiful bouquet, too. It’s a good thing I’m not allergic to pollen! That afternoon, my co-workers in the Business Affairs Department took me to lunch at Chevy’s Mexican Restaurant where I was sung to and forced to wear a sombrero. That afternoon, I was sung to again, this time in front of a delicious German Chocolate cake that Steve made himself. (Yes, ladies, he is that great. He even bakes pies!)

However, despite all that came before, the best part was the huge party LucasArts threw just for my birthday. Actually, it was just a coincidence. LucasArts throws a party every spring to celebrate all the great games that were released the year before. Coincidence it may be (if there ever really is such a thing as a coincidence?), but it was a great way to spend my birthday night. It was at a club in the City, and there was an open bar and a pretty good band. After mingling like the social butterfly I am, Steve and I spent the night dancing. We were some of the last people to leave the joint. We were being thrown out at midnight, but I think my boss was still there when we walked out the door. Now, this was on a Wednesday. Needless to say, the following day was LONG!

Here I am with Steve on our fabulous night out.

San Francisco Zoo

Just a few weeks ago, Steve and I took another weekend excursion, this time to the zoo. I still struggle with the ethics of a zoo, trying to weigh the balance in my head and in my heart. But I was able to get over it for a day and enjoy watching the big cats get fed and the river otters playful swim about. Steve also had a good day, reconnecting with some relatives with whom he’d lost touch.

After many hours at the zoo, we finished the day with a Churro and a ride on the carousel. Of course, we chose to ride the cats!

Coming Attractions: Anne? Playing Softball? And Zack’s gnarly visit to see Anne in California

This summer promises to be a busy one. Steve and I continue to think of fun things to do and see during our weekends. In the weeks to follow, you should check back to see pictures of me playing softball. Can you believe it? I joined a Lucas company softball league. I’ve been promised that people aren’t too competitive.

And in just 2 weeks, Zack will be in California visiting me. Actually, I’m not the main attraction. I’ve invited him out here for a very special event. Tune in next time to hear all about it.
