Thanks for the thoughtfulness of your posting and for all the SLA resources, especially re: Michael Fanning. I, too, was glad to hear from someone in Europe as well as to read his in-depth analysis. As for the timing of certain steps that SLA has taken, yes, some have been slow, even clueless (not posting the name research right away...why?!). However, I am glad for this month before the name voting so they could correct the gaps. I give HQ the benefit of the doubt and think they are being pretty responsive to requests for info. This process is SO much better than the last time even with an admitted learning curve. And the voting will truly be inclusive now that we can do it online starting Nov 16.

excellent post. you do well to show all the complexities of the issue.

(but the catty part of me likes this line best: "It is practically begging people, “Oh please, oh please, see me as ‘strategic’.”")

thanks for contributing to this massive discussion! we need more thoughtful posts like this one!

sounds like a fairly entertaining, yet disappointing speech?

much of this speech could have been given any time within the past 25 years but that may just be the old "the more things change, the more they stay the same"

(personally I do not find google useful tracking the info I need. I used to, but they have changed a LOT and now I have to wade through a sinkhole of irrelevance to get anywhere)

You missed an I-40 sign a few miles away facing the other direction: "If you died today where would you spend eternity?" Both are in Smith County (Carthage,TN) which also gave us "Little Al" (Albert Gore Jr).
