Every so often, Steve is recalled to the Mothership in Redmond; on rarer occasions, our schedules allow us to turn this into a long weekend and we are able to visit our friends Aaron and Vera and their son Sammy. This July, we were fortunate enough have this opportunity!
Much of our trip was spent generally catching up and heading into Seattle to visit Pike Place Market. Since we’re only in the area once every couple of years, I’m glad Aaron & Vera still either a) enjoy going there on occasion, or b) humor us with their willingness to go.
But one fun new thing we did was take a tour of Treehouse Point. Steve really enjoys a show on Animal Planet called Treehouse Masters. I enjoy it, too, but I think it really speaks to Steve’s not-so-inner child.
Although we made our plans way too late to book a night there, we were able to manage a tour.
The first part of the tour was spent having the difference between a reality show and real life being explained to us. (You mean it doesn’t really take only 2 weeks to build one of these structures?!?!? I’m shocked!)
After the brief intro, it was on to the tour, led by the call “To the trees!”
Gosh this place is pretty. While at its stripped-down core it is a tour of a hotel, it is also a really neat place to see and we were also able to get a better idea of the lodging options available for possible future visits. Steve and I both really liked the first and last treehouses we saw; both were the ones closest to the river.
There isn’t a whole heck of a lot more to say about it, but the old saying about the proportional value of pictures to words seems apt, so I’ll let some our photos do the rest of the talking.
